Qualified Business Income Deduction

(2 hours)

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act permanently extended the Qualified Business Income Deduction and expanded eligibility for this benefit. If you had procrastinated learning all the nuances of this deduction, secretly hoping it would go away with the expiration of TCJA, this 2-hour session will give you the confidence to:

  • Calculate the QBI Deduction
  • Understand phaseouts and carryovers
  • Determine if a taxpayer is operating a Specified Service Trade or Business
  • Implement planning strategies to maximize QBI

Retirement Plans for the Self-Employed and HSAs

Retirement accounts are a great way to save taxes while keeping your money. Self-Employed taxpayers have many options available, but not all accounts are created equal. In this session, we will discuss the features of the various retirement vehicles and how to determine which account will most benefit your clients. We will also cover Health Savings Accounts and long-term strategies for planning and saving.

Federal Tax Credits for Individuals

You know the big ones: EIC, CTC, AOTC, but some of the lesser-known credits can bring big benefits for taxpayers. In this 2-hour course, we will go in-depth on the rules for federal individual tax credits from the Adoption Credit to the Premium Tax Credit and discuss tips and tricks to maximize credits. You’ll learn:

  • When you can claim the full adoption credit even if your client had ZERO expenses
  • How to make scholarships taxable to allow for larger education credits
  • Allocations of Premium Tax Credit that can save hundreds in repayments
